Vague à l'Âme
About the artist
Born in 1998 in Paris Deadend is a self-taught painter, still based in Paris.
After joining the AOKIGAHARA collective founded by his friend Takeshi HRTBRK, musician and director, they decide to organize multidisciplinary events to show social problems such as police violence, racism and mental health condition. Over the years his style will evolve, using a vision of composition and gestures close to the brutalist movement and the World War II post scene, he will exacerbate the dreamlike and acerbic side of his canvases to create unreal frescoes used as scenery for everyday problems. Like his reference models (Bacon, Guston, Chagall), he will gradually focus on his family and friends to talk about their attempts to understand contemporary social phenomena and how they affect them. Sex drugs, social pressure, the precarious side of their living conditions are drowned out by his paintings, with the main subject of mental condition, which according to him is not considered a priority in France.
