About the artist
Born in Greece and though excelling in the sciences, I went to study architecture and fine arts in Belgium and later in New York. During my architectural studies, the abundance of art classes led me to fall in love with Abstract Art and the masters of American Abstract Expressionists. I painted in the late seventies using mixed media and ink, later self-published a collection of this work in 2016 titled Caves in the Heart and the Dance of the Shadows, which reflected my experience of the Platonic Truth. I worked in architecture in New York City until 1999. In the late nineties, tempted by the light and colors in the church and in central park I began to paint again, with watercolors this time. Very soon I started to paint free hand circles only, which later I understood to be the light. I believe light is the creative medium of everything in the universe and it happened to be the building block of my entire work also. My art springs from a "universe within," as if the light I collect from the world creates the reflection of a universe within me and I reflect it back in my art. I find beauty in poetry, I believe poetry is the singing of the human soul in love. I am curious and passioned by science and astronomy. From the quantum world to the ends of the universe, and I strive to understand my art in relation to the reality of the cosmos.
